FAQ

  • 1) Register for our series by filling out the registration form and paying the $25 fee. In the registration you’ll put vehicle information in and choose an optional SCCA SOLO Class for your car.

    2) Look at our schedule for the autocross events in our region that we are counting towards our series. Register for those events like you would any other autocross.

    3) Participate in autocross events as normal. Each autocross organization does things a little differently but know that you are competing not just in that event, but anyone else there who is in our series. We’ll handle the data part automatically.

    4) Do your best and have fun. Participate in as many events as possible that are in our schedule, we’ll calculate scores, and drop the lowest ones, awarding points and providing updates.

    5) At the end of the season, the top 10 drivers, based on points, will each receive trophies! The top 3 drivers will receive monetary prizes (in the form of gas gift cards).

  • Registration will cost $25 for the entire season! You will still have to register and pay for each individual autocross event on the schedule in addition to the $25 fee. Entry fees will be used to cover web costs and to give trophies/rewards to our top 10 drivers.

  • Register for our series and then participate in every event on our schedule that you can! There are 12 events in 2026 and we will count your best 8 events for your final score of the year.

Scoring is calculated by your Indexed times assigned to your vehicle (this is determined when you register).

For further information on classing [click here].

  • Timing data will be pulled from each autocross organization’s results. Raw times will then be multiplied by a value in the Rick Ruth Index [click here] (a time multiplier appropriate to the vehicle’s SCCA SOLO Class/custom class we assign you). We will share your times/scores from our series here on this website [click here].

There are 12 events on the schedule in 2026 but we will drop up to the lowest 4 scores, meaning a maximum of 8 events will be counted.

  • The Mid-Atlantic 86 Club is the sponsoring club of this series.

This series is unofficial because we are not the hosting organization of any of the autocross events, but simply using existing autocross events to run our championship series.

  • If you are new to autocross, or don’t understand the classing structure of certain organizations, or lack of classing structure of certain organizations, we hope you’ll consider using our championship series as a guide to navigating the various autocross events in the DMV region. We will help you class your car and be a community for you to autocross with!

  • This championship series is the brainchild of legendary members of the Mid-Atlantic 86 Club like:

Adam Crane, Adam Levi, Brandon Kyker, Carlos Caberol Prat, & Mark Mullen. We have also consulted big names in the DMV Autocross scene like Brian Garfield, Danny Kao, and Marcus Pyne. This is a really fun series that any and all autocrossers can participate in.

  • Of course! We put great care into coming up with the name: The Unofficial Mid-Atlantic [86 Club] DMV Autocross Championship Series, or “TUMA DACS” for short.

  • Autocross is a wonderful motorsport because almost any car can be used. As long a your battery is secure and your wheels are properly torqued, you are likely good to go. Equipment needed for autocross is usually as simple as a helmet and then the clothing and gear to be outside all day (water and sunscreen usually being at the top of everyone’s list!).

  • Autocross classing can be complicated, and people sometimes modify or change their cars during an autocross season. Our series will index your times based on your registration at the beginning of the season. If your car information changes or you believe someone else is being indexed incorrectly, please simply Contact Us [click here].
