FAQ

  • What is the Mid-Atlantic 86 Club?

We are a social car club for owners of the Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ, Toyota 86, and Toyota GR86. We get together casually on a regular basis, have special events a few times a year (trips, motorsports, charity events, & more!), and enjoy the comraderie of owning similar cars.

  • Why is the club named the "86" Club? Can I still join if I drive a Subaru BRZ?

In the beginning (2012) you either drove a Scion FR-S or a Subaru BRZ. These were the two North American production versions of the FT-86 Concept Car (Future Toyota 86). At the time, naming the club the “Mid-Atlantic 86 Club” seemed like an appropriate homage to the FT-86 Concept and more inclusive than naming the club after either the FR-S or BRZ. However, once the Scion brand was discontinued, Toyota started selling the car model as 86. While we have considered renaming the club, the name has been around long enough that we have stuck with it.

  • How do I join the club? Does it cost anything?

Our club has always been free to join. The only requirement to join is that you own either a Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ, Toyota 86, or Toyota GR86. Becoming a member is easy, just start showing up to events! We sell stickers and merchandise so that you can show your affilition with the club. The club uses the profits from sales to put on events like our car show, etc.

  • Where are your events? How can I find out about club activities and meet fellow members?

Fortunately you have come to the right place. Simply click on the “Home” button or “Events” button at the top of the page. You can scroll down on those pages to see all of our socials, subscribe to our Google Calendar, and see the upcoming events we have scheduled.

  • Who decides what events the club does? Can I make an event or collaborate with the club for an event?

We are a club for and by our members. While we do have an admin team when situations arise that need to be escalated, all events are created and executed by our members. Events are frequently created on our Facebook page or in our social channels ad hoc. If you wish to collaborate with us or host something more formal, click “Contact Us” at the top of this page.

  • How long has this club been around? Are you a business or non-profit?

We have been around in some form or another since 2012, primarily on Facebook. As we have grown, we have expanded to use more social media platforms, as well as incorporating as an LLC in 2023 (in order to facilitate making financial contributions to local charities and administer larger scale events). We are thrilled to have two generations of cars and a decade of memories already and can’t wait for what the future brings.
